VCNB Celebrates New Bank With Holiday Open House In McArthur
Vinton County National Bank celebrated an important milestone on Saturday with an open house at their new building in McArthur. The bank was founded in 1867 and has nearly always occupied one location on Main Street. After years of growth and changing needs, the bank opted to separate its retail branch from the corporate headquarters and to build a new location for customers to bank.
The corporate headquarters will continue to house employees who work in back office positions while customers now will bank at the new location at 203 West Main Street. Here, customers will find a streamlined approach to banking where the drive-thru shares the same building as the bank lobby. There are now three drive-thru lanes. The lane closest to the building is dedicated to the ATM and Express Drop.
Inside, the space is light and airy with glass offices for customer privacy and tellers at an open workspace for a more friendly interaction with staff than the old fashioned bars provided. A kids’ station and local history wall are part of the waiting area and Keurig drinks invite customers to relax while they wait to talk with a banker about a loan or a new account. The building is meant to improve efficiencies in workflow and energy usage and to make the bank a more pleasant place for both bankers and customers.
During the open house, the bank gave $250 donations to Shepherd’s House, the Vinton County Beta Club, the Vinton County Historical and Genealogical Society (Alice’s House) and to the Vinton County High School Band as a way to say thanks for all they do for the community.
The bank also donated $5,000 to the Vinton County Dog Shelter’s Building Fund to kickstart a local effort to help the shelter on the path to a better future. The needs in Vinton County have outgrown the current shelter, leaving the staff to deal with severe overcrowding. There is need to expand the current shelter.
“Most of us here at the bank are animal lovers and have pets of our own. It’s hard to imagine the life of a shelter dog when they’re lost, abandoned, scared and overcrowded. We see how hard the dog wardens are working to give these dogs the best possible life but they need help. Plus, the homeless dog population is a public safety issue as strays may cause motor vehicle accidents and even chase livestock and humans” said Vinton County National Bank Corporate Communications Officer Brandi Betts. “That is why we are donating money and we challenge the entire community to help as well. We hope that every business and the families and individuals that can afford to help will donate what they can. There is no such thing as a donation too big or too small!”
Checks should be written to the Vinton County Dog Shelter Building Fund. Be sure to write in the memo line “earmark for dog shelter building fund” and mail to the Vinton County Dog Shelter at 31479 St. Rt. 93, McArthur, Ohio 45651.
Anyone who missed the open house on Saturday is welcome to stop by during business hours for a look around the new bank. The entire community is welcome to stop by the new bank. Follow VCNB on Facebook for more pictures from this event and for additional bank news and information.
